Eric Gerritsen

Eric J. Gerritsen is a veteran of the Asian Internet, most recently with two sites operating out of Hong Kong, www.cool.asia and www.investor.asia

During the early Internet years Mr. Gerritsen was VP-International for search engine company Lycos Inc. and oversaw the launch of Lycos services into 12 Asian countries, including localization into Japanese, Chinese, and Korean.

Mr. Gerritsen has served on the boards of Lycos Japan Inc. (a joint venture with Sumitomo KK), Lycos Korea Inc. (joint venture with Mirae Corp.), and Lycos Asia Pte. (a joint venture with Singapore Telecom).

Lycos became one of the largest international Internet media networks in the world, with services in 43 countries and 22 languages, serving over 100 million users, and employing over 2,000 people outside the United States. Lycos was sold to Terra Networks S.A. of Spain in October, 2000 for $5.4 billion.

Currently, Mr. Gerritsen operates Internet companies and websites out of offices in Hong Kong and Palo Alto, CA, including health and medical search engine site www.biopeer.com, infrastructure community site www.infrastructuredeals.com, and search engine www.globixa.com

Mr. Gerritsen is Principal and Founder of Global Internet Advisors, a Palo Alto-based international strategy consulting business focused on helping Internet companies monetize Internet traffic in international markets. He is also the Principal of Global Seed Capital LLC, a seed investment company specializing in early-stage Internet firms.

Mr. Gerritsen has over 20 years’ experience in growing media, software, and Internet technology companies across borders. He is an Asiaspecialist, having lived in Hong Kong for 8 years, and done business in Asia/Pacific for over 20 years.

Mr. Gerritsen has held a variety of senior editorial and management roles for publishers Plesman Publications Ltd. in Canada and the Asian Sources Media Group in Hong Kong and was the founder of Multimedia Asia Ltd. (Hong Kong). Mr. Gerritsen started multimedia software business units for Longman Asia Ltd. and Philips Media (Asia/Pacific) Ltd., both of Hong Kong. His media experience includes the launch of seven magazines, one newspaper, numerous consumer software titles, and Web sites in all corners of the world.

Mr. Gerritsen is a former Chairman of the Board of Vancouver-based Recombo Inc. and a former Chairman of the Board of Lycos Asia Pte.

Mr. Gerritsen holds a BA (Hons) degree in philosophy from Queen’s University and is a regular speaker at Internet, software, and media industry and academic events around the world.
